SOHO 2026 | ICUS, CHIP, and CCUS: practical approaches to diagnosis, risk stratification, and referral

Zhuoer Xie, MD, MS, Moffitt Cancer Center, Tampa, FL, discusses the management of patients with idiopathic cytopenia of undetermined significance (ICUS), clonal hematopoiesis of indeterminate potential (CHIP), and clonal cytopenia of undetermined significance (CCUS) in the community setting. Dr Xie highlights the importance of thoroughly evaluating unexplained cytopenias before assigning a clonal diagnosis. She also discusses the use of risk scoring tools to guide surveillance and referral to academic centers, as well as the need to address non-malignant risks associated with clonal hematopoiesis. This interview took place at the 14th Annual Meeting of the Society of Hematologic Oncology (SOHO 2026) in Houston, TX.
