SOHO 2026 | Progress in CHIP/CCUS: how overlapping lesions may change patient management

Zhuoer Xie, MD, MS, Moffitt Cancer Center, Tampa, FL, discusses recent advances in the assessment of clonal hematopoiesis of indeterminate potential (CHIP) and clonal cytopenia of undetermined significance (CCUS). Dr Xie emphasizes the importance of evaluating both somatic mutations and mosaic chromosomal alterations, as overlapping lesions appear to confer a higher risk of hematologic malignancies than either abnormality alone. She highlights that considering overlapping lesions may help guide patient monitoring and identify patients for clinical trials. This interview took place at the 14th Annual Meeting of the Society of Hematologic Oncology (SOHO 2026) in Houston, TX.
