Manuela Spadea, MD, University of Turin, Turin, Italy, discusses a poster that was presented at the 5th European CAR T-cell Meeting on the first reported case of veno-occlusive disease (VOD) after CAR-T therapy. Dr Spadea further explains the role of the endothelium in various CAR-related toxicities, including cytokine release syndrome (CRS) and immune effector cell-associated neurotoxicity syndrome (ICANS), and highlights the importance of better understanding the endothelium’s involvement in these complications. This interview took place at the EBMT-EHA 5th European CAR T-cell Meeting held in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
