Speaking from the 23rd congress of the European Hematology Association (EHA) 2018 press briefing, held in Stockholm, Sweden, Dr Francesca Vinchi, of the Iron Research Program, New York Blood Center, NY, discusses the role of iron in inflammation in three conditions associated with an over-accumulation of iron; transfusion-dependent anemia, anemia treated with intravenous iron preparations, and sickle cell disease.
