BSH 2024 | A four-year tertiary center experience of ICU outcomes in patients receiving CAR T-cell therapy

Lily Scourfield, MBBCh, King’s College Hospital, London, UK, outlines the findings from a four-year tertiary center experience of intensive care unit (ICU) outcomes in patients receiving CAR T-cell therapy. Over a quarter of the patients given a CAR-T infusion in the four years in King’s College Hospital, London, were admitted into the ICU, primarily due to infection or CAR-T-associated toxicity. This single-center experience highlights that centers wishing to set up cellular therapy programs must have adequate critical care provision and good collaboration with critical care staff. This interview took place at the 64th Annual Scientific Meeting of the British Society for Haematology (BSH) Congress in Liverpool, UK.
