ERIC 2024 | Engineering stromal cells to express T-cell factors to induce CLL cell proliferation

Marek Mráz, PhD, Central European Institute of Technology, Brno, Czech Republic, discusses the development of a model for chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) cells by engineering three T-cell factors (CD40, IL-4, and IL-21) into HS5 stromal cells. This model revealed that the combination of these factors induces robust CLL cell proliferation, offering insights into potential drug interventions that effectively block proliferation. This interview took place at the 2024 European Research Initiative on CLL (ERIC) Meeting in Barcelona, Spain.
