Erin Parry, MD, PhD, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, MA, discusses the findings of a genomic study that traced the evolution of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) to Richter’s transformation (RT). Dr Parry and her team observed genetic alterations occurring in Richter’s cells to determine several novel drivers associated with RT. Additionally, following clones over time allowed for characterization of RT into two subtypes: clonally related and unrelated, confirming findings of previous studies. This interview took place at the biennial International Workshop on Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (iwCLL) 2023 meeting, held in Boston, MA.
