ASCAT 2023 | Sickle cell disease care in Lebanon
In this interview, Miguel Abboud, MD, American University of Beirut Medical Center, Beirut, Lebanon, speaks on the complex situation regarding sickle cell disease (SCD) care in Lebanon. Lebanon faces an economic crisis and political instability, leading to challenges when providing care to patients with SCD. Dr Abboud discusses some of the initiatives which have been put in place to improve care for these patients and raise awareness of the disease. This interview was recorded at the 18th Annual Scientific Conference on Sickle Cell and Thalassemia (ASCAT) 2023, held in London, UK.
