EHA 2021 | Reframing how to define success in SCD

Alan Anderson, MD, Prisma Health, Columbia, SC, talks on the current challenges of treating sickle cell disease (SCD). In the US, the biggest challenge is reframing how to define success in SCD. Currently, there are tools available that can modify the disease at younger ages and improve the disease outcomes and reduce disability as patients get older. Dr Anderson also highlights the importance of the destigmatization of the disease and how this is a global issue. This interview took place at the virtual European Hematology Association (EHA) Congress 2021.
