Petros Kountouris, PhD, The Cyprus Institute of Neurology & Genetics, Lefkosia, Cyprus, introduces INHERENT, an international network focused on studying genetic modifiers in hemoglobinopathies. The aim is to address the limitations of small sample sizes in previous studies by developing a large-scale, multiethnic genome-wide association study. At present, INHERENT involves more than 200 experts from over 100 organizations in 46 countries. This interview took place at the 19th Annual Scientific Conference of the Academy for Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia (ASCAT 2024) in London, UK.
