STFOM 2024 | The changing roles of HCPs with the introduction of AI into oncology

Stephen Gilbert, PhD, Else Kröner Fresenius Center for Digital Health at Dresden University of Technology, Dresden, Germany, outlines the changing role of health care professionals (HCPs) with the introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) tools into cancer care, highlighting some of the challenges which may be associated with the implementation of these novel technologies. Prof. Gilbert comments on the need for closed-loop systems, which will only bring in a doctor to make decisions when necessary to avoid problems with reimbursement and overloading of HCPs. Prof. Gilbert also discusses the potential for the development of personalized precision medicine. This interview took place at the Shaping the Future of Medicine (STFOM 2024) congress held in Leipzig, Germany.
