Texas MPN Workshop 2021 | The impact of E-cigarette exposure on bone marrow hematopoietic progenitor cells

Angela Fleischman, MD, PhD, University of California Irvine, Irvine, CA, discusses findings from an investigation into the impact of E-cigarette exposure on bone marrow hematopoietic progenitor cells, highlighting the key takeaways from the study. Interestingly, it was found that upon exposure to E-cigarette smoke there was a reduction in myeloid progenitors in wild-type mice. The next steps in the research of E-cigarette exposure will be to investigate its impact on mutant cells such as JAK2 mutant cells which are implicated in MPNs. This interview took place at the Texas MPN Workshop: Second Annual Workshop and Meeting in 2021.
