iwCLL 2023 | The importance of vaccination and vaccine responsiveness in patients with CLL

Chris Pleyer, MD, The National Institute of Health, Bethesda, MD, discusses the importance of vaccination in patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), an area which was poorly understood until the COVID-19 pandemic, in which widespread vaccination against the disease took place. Dr Pleyer also considers factors which affect vaccine responsiveness in individuals with CLL, such as type of treatment, and briefly describes how immune responses to vaccination can be improved. This interview was recorded at the biennial International Workshop on Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (iwCLL) 2023 meeting, held in Boston, MA.
