Catalina Herrán-Fonseca, PhD, Autonomous University of Bucaramanga, Santander, Colombia, discusses the findings of a systematic review and meta-analysis comparing single- versus double-unit transfusion for patients with hematological disorders. Single-unit transfusion lowered hemoglobin levels and reduced the number of blood units required for patients, with no significant difference seen in bleeding events, mortality, or duration of hospital stay. This interview took place at the 64th Annual Scientific Meeting of the British Society for Haematology (BSH) Congress in Liverpool, UK.
