Tracy George, MD, ARUP Laboratories, University of Utah, Salt Lake City, UT, discusses unmet needs in systemic mastocytosis, drawing focus on the issue of identifying patients due to the broad range of symptoms they often display. Dr George describes how high-sensitivity polymerase chain reaction (PCR) techniques are able to detect the KIT D816V mutation and can aid in diagnosis of systemic mastocytosis. This interview took place at the European Hematology Association (EHA) Congress 2022 held in Vienna, Austria.
