EHA 2018 | Geriatric oncology: immunotherapy for elderly patients with lymphoma

The European Hematology Association (EHA) Scientific Working Group on Aging and Hematology released a new edition about geriatric oncology. Here, Raúl Córdoba, MD, PhD, from the Fundacion Jimenez Diaz University Hospital, Madrid, Spain, discusses reviewing the edition’s safety and efficacy data on immunotherapy for treating elderly patients with lymphoma. While patient enrollment was low, meaning that results are inconclusive, there are positive signs of treatment efficacy. Speaking at the 23rd Congress of the European Hematology Association (EHA) 2018, held in Stockholm, Sweden, Dr Córdoba points out that there are increased cases of adverse immune response events in older patients, and therefore closer monitoring is required.
