BSH 2023 | Unmet needs in bone marrow failure syndromes & myeloid malignancies: characterization & novel agents

Inderjeet Dokal, MBChB, MD, FRCP, FRCPCH, FRCPath, FMedSci, Queen Mary University of London and Barts Health, London, UK, discusses two primary research goals for patients with bone marrow failure syndromes and myeloid leukemias: characterization and new treatments. Prof. Dokal describes the need for new treatments, with currently available therapies such as bone marrow transplantation not always being effective. Prof. Dokal goes on to highlight the value of using new genetic techniques in order to further understand the biology of these diseases. This interview took place at the 63rd Annual Scientific Meeting of the British Society for Haematology (BSH) 2023, held in Birmingham, UK.
