Christopher Oakes, PhD from Ohio State University, Columbus, OH highlights the importance of epigenetics in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) at the International Workshop on Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (iwCLL) 2017 in New York, NY. Dr Oakes reports on the diverse patterns of methylation in CLL which corresponds to outcome in patients. Epigenetics will not only have a role in disease regulation but more excitingly in predicting which patients will respond to certain therapies and in the production of biomarkers.
