Paresh Vyas, MRCP, FRCP, FRCPath, Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine, University of Oxford, Oxford, UK, discusses the response to COVID-19 vaccinations in patients with blood cancers. Compared to the general populace, patients with blood cancers will have different responses to vaccinations, and responses will also differ across various blood cancers. Vaccines tend to be less effective in patients with cancers or those receiving immunosuppressive treatments, as well as patients who receive more aggressive chemotherapy treatments. This interview took place at the 2021 British Society for Haematology Annual Scientific Meeting.
