SOHO 2018 | Heritability of MPNs

New classifications for myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs) incorporate diseases for which a predisposition is inherited. In this video, recorded at the 2018 Society of Hematologic Oncology (SOHO) Annual Meeting in Houston, TX, Valeria Santini, MD, of the University of Florence, Florence, Italy, speaks about heritable MPNs and the genetic mutations which are associated with them. She discusses the GATA2 and DDX4 mutations specifically, and explains how such understanding is essential so that patients with inherited mutations do not receive stem cell transplants from family members.
