Tycel Phillips
Academic History
Tycel Phillips, MD, is an Associate Professor in the Division of Lymphoma within the Department of Hematology and Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation at City of Hope National Medical Center, Duarte, CA. He is a board-certified Hematologist-Oncologist with certifications in Internal Medicine, Hematology, and Medical Oncology. Prior to joining City of Hope, he held academic appointments at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI, where he served as Clinical Assistant Professor and later Clinical Associate Professor of Hematology and Oncology. During this time, he was also appointed as the Maria Reinhardt DeCesare Research Professor of Blood Cancers and Bone Marrow Transplantation. Dr Phillips earned his medical degree from Rush University, Chicago, IL, and completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at John H. Stroger Hospital of Cook County, Chicago, IL. He then undertook a fellowship in Hematology and Oncology at University Hospitals – Case Medical Center, Cleveland, OH.

Dr Phillips is a leading expert in the management and investigation of lymphoid malignancies, including chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), Hodgkin lymphoma (HL), and rare subtypes such as mantle cell lymphoma (MCL). His research focuses on developing innovative and less toxic therapeutic strategies, conducting clinical trials that aim to personalize treatment, overcome resistance, and improve patient outcomes.
