Speaking on the genomics of acute leukemia

Dr Alexander’s research primarily focuses on combining cancer genomic sequencing with early phase clinical trials to enhance understanding of disease response dynamics and improve outcomes in childhood leukemia and other hematological malignancies. He is also developing a project to explore a novel sequencing platform for cancer diagnostics, specifically with the goal of improving diagnostic capabilities in low and middle income counties.

Dr Alexander is currently involved in several clinical trials on leukemias. Two such trials include in a Phase I trial investigating the safety and preliminary efficacy of venetoclax with navitoclax in patients with relapsed or refractory acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and lymphoblastic lymphoma, as well as a Phase I trial investigating the safety of panobinostat in patients with relapsed or refractory acute myeloid leukemia (AML).
