Radek Kaczmarek, PhD, is an assistant research professor of Pediatrics at the Gene and Cell Therapy Laboratory, Wells Center for Pediatric Research, Indiana University School of Medicine, Indianapolis, IN.
Dr Kaczmarek completed his PhD at the Hirszfeld Institute of Immunology and Experimental Therapy, Wroclaw, Poland, where he was also an assistant professor.
Dr Kaczmarek has been actively involved in national and international cooperative organizations, including as Chair of the Coagulation Product Safety, Supply and Access (CPSSA) Committee of the World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH), and a member of the WFH Medical Advisory group.
Speaking on immune responses to hemophilia treatments, and emerging strategies in hemophilia care
Dr Kaczmarek’s research focuses on hemophilia A and B, with particular emphasis on immune responses to gene and protein replacement therapies. He has a specific interest in adeno-associated virus (AAV)-based gene therapy, including the immunological and safety considerations associated with this treatment approach.
