Prithviraj Bose, MD, is a Professor in the Department of Leukemia at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX. He is board-certified in both Hematology and Medical Oncology. Prior to joining MD Anderson in 2015, Dr Bose served on the faculty at Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, VA, where he was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine and a member of the NCI-designated VCU Massey Cancer Center. Dr Bose earned his medical degree from the University of Calcutta, Kolkata, India. He began his postgraduate training in general medicine at the Institute of Post-Graduate Medical Education and Research before relocating to the United States. He then completed an Internal Medicine internship at the University of Washington, Spokane, WA, followed by residency at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, MI. He completed a fellowship in Hematology and Oncology at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, Oklahoma, OK. He is an active member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Society of Hematology (ASH), American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), Society of Hematologic Oncology (SOHO), Southwest Oncology Group (SWOG), Indian Doctors Association of Houston, Indo American Cancer Association (IACA), American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI), Texas Medical Association (TMA) and Harris County Medical Society.
Speaking on novel therapies for MPNs
Dr Bose specializes in hematologic malignancies, with a particular focus on myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs), including myelofibrosis, essential thrombocythemia, and systemic mastocytosis. He designs and leads early-phase clinical trials of novel, targeted therapies and conducts translational research to improve treatment outcomes.
