Academic history

Kenneth Charles, MBBS, FRCP, FRCPath(Haem), is a Honorary Senior Lecturer & Consultant Haematologist at the University of the West Indies (St Augustine), Mount Hope, Trinidad and Tobago. Dr Charles completed his FRCP and FRCPath at the University of the West Indies Faculty of Medical Sciences (St Augustine), Mount Hope, Trinidad and Tobago between 1992 and 1999.

Speaking on blood transfusion, leukemia, aplastic anemia

Among Dr Charles’ wide research interests lie blood transfusion, aplastic anemia and chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). He was previously involved in a long-term follow-up study investigating the use of imatinib in patients with CML in Trinidad and Tobago as well as a study into treating aplastic anemia in developing countries. More recently, Dr Charles has been extensively involved in analyzing attitudes and risk perception surrounding blood transfusion in developing countries.
