Sanne Lugthart, MD, PhD, University Hospitals of Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust, Bristol, UK, comments on the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in predicting vaso-occlusive crises (VOCs) in sickle cell disease (SCD), highlighting the accuracy of two models which incorporate data from digital remote monitoring of patients. Dr Lughthart highlights that these enhanced AI-driven prediction models present a promising approach to preventing hospitalizations.
