Enrico Novelli, MD, MS, University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA, discusses the CONSA consortium, launched by the American Society of Hematology (ASH) to address challenges in sickle cell disease (SCD). The consortium focuses on advancing newborn screening and early intervention across seven countries of sub-Saharan Africa (SSA), aiming to demonstrate the effectiveness of such programs and encourage public health interventions on a larger scale.
