Paolo Ghia

Academic History

Paolo Ghia, MD, PhD, is a Professor at the Università Vita-Salute San Raffaele, Milan, Italy, and director of the Strategic Research Program on CLL.

Dr Ghia received his medical degree from the University of Torino, Torino, Italy, and subsequently completed a residency in internal medicine. He then received a PhD at the Basel Institute for Immunology, Basel, Switzerland. Afterwards, Dr Ghia continued his studies at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute at Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA.

Speaking on the molecular and cellular mechanisms of CLL

Dr Ghia’s research interests focus on molecular and cellular mechanisms of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) pathogenesis. He is an active member of multiple scientific societies. This involves his role as president of the European Research Initiative on CLL (ERIC), associate editor for Haematologica and member of the WHO CLinical Advisory Committee for Lymphocytic and Histiocytic Malignancies.
