Academic History

Kostas Stamatopoulos, MD, PhD, is Director at the Institute of Applied Biosciences at CERTH, the Center for Research and Technology Hellas, and research collaborator at Papanicolaou Hospital, Thessaloniki, Greece. He is also a visiting professor at Uppsala University, Uppsala, Sweden.

Dr Stamatopoulos received his medical degree from Athens University in 1990. He then went on to specialize in clinical hematology and obtained a PhD in 1997.

Speaking on genetics of lymphoid malignancies and patient care

Dr. Stamatopoulos’s research focuses on the genetics of lymphoid malignancies and the management of cancer care. Dr. Stamatopoulos is an active member of several scientific societies including the European Research Initiative on CLL (ERIC), the Splenic Lymphoma Group and the IgCLL group. He is also the co-author of the Roadmap for European Hematology Research of the European Hematology Association.
