Academic History
Karthik Ramasamy, MBBS, MRCP, FRCPath, PhD, carried out his early medical training in Nottingham prior to starting his hematology career with hematology registrar training at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary, UK. He subsequently moved to Kings College London, where he completed a PhD in myeloma and a comprehensive hematology registrar training program.
Dr Ramasamy currently works as a Consultant Hematologist at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. He is the Lead Clinician for myeloma for the Thames Valley Cancer Network, as well as Cancer Specialty Lead for Thames Valley and South Midlands Clinical Research Network. Dr Ramasamy is a member of numerous scientific and medical societies, including acting as a board member for Myeloma UK and an executive member of IK Myeloma Forum.
Speaking on investigating unmet clinical needs in multiple myeloma
Dr Ramasamy has been a Chief Investigator of a number of national myeloma trials. As the lead clinician of a substantial patient group, his interests lie on developing strategies to combat the largest unmet needs for myeloma patients. In particular, he investigates relapsed/refractory disease, renal impairment and bone disease. Dr Ramasamy also has an interest in examining and understanding real-world disease outcomes.
