Academic History

Evangelos Terpos, MD, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Hematology at the University of Athens, Athens, Greece. He is also appointed as an Honorary Senior Lecturer in the Department of Hematology at Imperial College London, London, UK. Dr Terpos is currently the co-chair of the Bone Subgroup of the International Myeloma Working Group and the Guideline Subgroup of the European Myeloma Network (EMN). He participates in several clinical trials investigating novel agents in the field of multiple myeloma. Dr Terpos has given lectures at EHA & ASH meetings, International Myeloma Workshops and in several national meetings.

Dr Terpos is a reviewer of scientific papers in over 50 medical journals and has reviewed abstracts for EHA and ASH meetings. He is also a member of the editorial board of Haematologica.

Speaking on bone disease biology in multiple myeloma

Dr Terpos specializes in the biology of plasma cell dyscrasias and the biology of bone disease in multiple myeloma. Dr Terpos’ previous research has focused on different signalling pathways in myeloma bone disease and myeloma cell growth, as well as the predictive value of markers of bone remodelling and osteoclast function. Dr Terpos has also been involved in studies of autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT), IMiDs and bortezomib-based regimens, and is involved in many clinical trials of novel agents in the field of multiple myeloma.
