Academic History

Arnon Kater, MD, PhD, is a Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Amsterdam’s Faculty of Medicine (AMC-UvA), Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Dr Kater obtained his PhD from the University of Amsterdam and went on to work as a Research Fellow at the Moores Cancer Centre, University of California, San Diego, CA, US. In 2012, Dr Kater co-founded the Lymphoma and Myeloma Center Amsterdam (LYMMCARE), which has since become a prominent clinical and translational CLL center. He was also awarded the Jan Swammerdam Award, an incentive prize for talented hematology who are under 45 years old.

Speaking on lymphoma and chronic lymphocytic leukemia

Dr Kater’s research into CLL includes subjects such as functional genomics, the tumor microenvironment and the adaptive immune system, and he has designed and led many clinical trials. As a result, he has published in numerous scientific journals and is a member of the Editorial Board of the Nederlands Tijdschrift voor Hematologie.
