Hagop M. Kantarjian, MD of MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX discusses the mission of the Society of Hematologic Oncology (SOHO) and its annual meeting. Prof. Kantarjian explains that SOHO was created as the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and American Society of Hematology (ASH) meetings do not fulfill all the needs of experts and researchers working in hematologic malignancies. The annual meeting of the SOHO focuses on hematologic malignancies only. The focus is on research, education for young researchers and doctors, and multinational and multi-institutional collaboration and networking.
