iwCLL 2017 | Looking beyond the leukemic cell for answers

Christopher Pepper, PhD from Cardiff University, Cardiff, UK chairs a panel discussion on the ‘Role of Non-Leukemic Cells and the Microenvironment in CLL Development’, one of the session topics covered at the International Workshop on Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (iwCLL) 2017 held in New York, NY. Prof. Pepper is joined by Ingo Ringshausen, MD from the University of Cambridge, Cambridge, UK and Martina Seiffert, PhD from the German Cancer Research Center, Heidelberg, Germany, together they discuss their presentations from the session and the key messages from the session. A recurring theme from the session is that by gaining a better understanding of the role of the microenvironment in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) disease progression, it may be possible to develop more efficient targeted treatments.
