COMy 2017 | COMy 2017: Day 1 discussion on progress in multiple myeloma, patient advocacy and drug costs

This is a round-up of highlights from day one of the COMy Multiple Myeloma Highlights 2017 congress with Mohamad Mohty, MD, PhD of Saint-Antoine Hospital and University Pierre & Marie Curie, Paris, France and Arnon Nagler, MD of Chaim Sheba Medical Center, Ramat Gan, Israel. Prof. Nagler and Prof. Mohty discuss various topics, including the progress that has been made in multiple myeloma (MM) in terms of survival, disease biology and treatments and how this is reflected in this year’s congress; the patient advocacy session and how the attendance of patients reflects a change in culture; and further, the issue of cost and the affordability and availability of drugs. They also talk about the importance of bringing all stakeholders together in order to further improve outcomes for patients.
