Social media is quickly taking the world by storm as the main method of communication. Joseph Mikhael, MD, from the Mayo Clinic, Phoenix, AZ, USA, explores the importance of using different forms of social media, namely Twitter, to engage with the public and educate people on cancer and disease in general. The usefulness of using social media in enhancing research by aiding in the recruitment of patients for clinical trials and obtaining their consent is also described in this segment. This interview was filmed at the European Hematology Association (EHA) 2017 Annual Congress in Madrid, Spain.
